About Us
We are a non-profit organization aiming to show the love of Jesus Christ to our community through technological training. Courses are announced on our website, via Twitter, and via our Facebook page.
Our courses are taught by industry experts and university/college professors. Courses are augmented after each iteration to reflect current trends, and at the request of our partners.
MergeBC Ed Programs are designed to engage students through a holistic approach that teaches foundational skills in a particular domain, while incorporating evangelism and spreading the love of Christ. Our programs span technology, literacy, and sports.
Please visit our Mission Statement Page for more our values, Christian ethics, and civic responsibility declaration. Visit Bobby Chan Profile Page for more information about our founder.
Am I right for your program?
Yes! If you:
- Have strong motivation to learn technology
- Would like to socialize and meet others
- Would like to elevate your technology and computer literacy
What is the application process?
- Applications open roughly two months before the commencement of a course. You may apply directly on this site — see the courses section for current offerings.
- Your application will be reviewed for suitability based on your background. If accepted, you will be invited for an interview.
How much does it cost?
MergeBC charges a small administration fee per course ($10–$25 per student). Students are required to bring their own computing device meeting these specs:
- Has a keyboard and mouse (or other pointing device)
- Is a student-owned device — a work computer may not suffice
- Has a battery that lasts 2+ hours
- Has a Wi-Fi card
If you don't have a device, a Chromebook no more than 3 years old is recommended. If you plan to take programming or application development courses, please reach out to a MergeBC instructor first.
Do I need any technical background?
That depends on the course. For Computer Applications I and Business Communication, no previous technology experience is required. MergeBC also plans to offer beginner, intermediate, and expert-level courses that will require prior knowledge. Your application will be assessed and you'll receive feedback on your suitability.
What courses do you offer?
Course offerings depend on demand from MergeBC's partners and instructor availability. MergeBC instructors have experience in Systems Analysis and Design, Cyber Security, Software Development and Engineering, Database Management, Web Development, Business Communication, and Sports Programs.
